Our Vi Tools 24” PU V Notched Squeegees are designed to spread flowable material to a desired thickness and are suitable for the application of self-levelling or self-smoothing resin.
Choosing the right notch size for your squeegee depends on the specific application and the material you’ll be working with.
Ensuring a consistent thickness when applying flowable materials like resins is crucial for achieving the correct adhesion and a professional finish.
Blade: Our V Notched Squeegee blades are manufactured from a medium-hardness polyurethane that’s resistant to solvents and doesn’t leave marks, enhancing abrasion resistance on both smooth and rough surfaces. The blade is securely held in position with precision and accuracy by rivets and isn’t removable.
Frame: 24” Heavy Duty Stainless Steel frame with angled handle adaptor for durability and to withstand the harsh chemicals within the resin.
Choosing your notch size:
Our 24” V Notched Serrated Squeegees are available in 3 Notch sizes and colour-coded for ease of identification:
Blue -4mm
Red – 6mm
Green – 8mm
A simple guideline for selecting your notch size is to consider that approximately 40% of the notch depth will yield the desired thickness.
4mm will achieve 1.5mm
6mm will achieve 2.5mm
8mm will achieve 3.00mm
Review Manufacturer Recommendations: Most material manufacturers provide guidance on the recommended coating thickness of their products, and some will provide the recommended notch size. Check the product specifications or contact the manufacturer for recommendations tailored to your specific material.
Consider Material Consistency: If you’re working with thin or runny materials like certain adhesives or sealants, you’ll want a smaller notch size to control the flow and achieve a consistent thickness. Conversely, thicker materials may require a larger notch size to allow for proper application.
Consider Surface Texture: For rough surfaces or when aggregate is used a larger notch size may be required to ensure proper coverage and adhesion, while smooth surfaces may benefit from a smaller notch.
Benefits
Using these Vi Tools PU Notched Squeegees when applying a liquid coating for resin flooring , road surface dressings and driveways allows you to gain several advantages:
Control & Spread Rate: Notches act as guides allowing for better control over application and by selecting a specific notch size you can adjust the amount of material being laid, ensuring an accurate and even spread.
Time Efficiency: The Notched Squeegee enables faster application compared to some other methods such as rolling, and you can cover a larger area in a shorter amount of time.
Professional Finish: The use of a PU Notched Squeegee can help to achieve a professional-looking finish with constant thickness and controlled spread, this minimises deviations in appearance, ensuring a uniform result.
Applications:
Resin Flooring
Flow Applied Flooring
Resin Bonded
Road Marking
Surface Dressing
Car Park Coatings
